What Should You Check Before a Supplier Pickup in China?
Before dispatching a vehicle, confirm that the cargo is ready, the address is correct and the loading and document responsibilities are assigned. A pickup appointment should connect to a usable onward plan, not simply a request to collect boxes.
Confirm the cargo is actually ready
Ask whether packing is complete and the final list is available. Confirm whether the supplier has released the goods and whether any order is still being packed.
Check address and loading access
Collect the site address, contact number, opening hours and vehicle access information. Ask about loading equipment and who operates it.
Align the paperwork
Compare product descriptions, package counts and weights across the packing information and commercial documents. Flag missing or inconsistent data before collection.
Give clear receiving instructions
Confirm the next handover point, shipment reference and the person who can authorize changes. Ask the supplier to report a packing or timing change promptly.
Frequently asked questions
Should pickup happen before final packing?
Normally the final cargo details should be available first. Any exception needs an explicit plan.
What if the supplier changes the address?
Update the collection team before dispatch and recheck access and timing.
Who should load the vehicle?
Agree it in advance with the supplier and collection team. Do not leave it to the driver to resolve.
Can I use this checklist for several suppliers?
Yes. Keep one record per supplier and a combined dispatch view.
Is a pickup photo a quality certificate?
No. It may document the visible packing condition but does not prove product quality.
What if the cargo is not ready when the vehicle arrives?
Inform Leo as soon as the delay is known. Waiting, rebooking or a revised plan may need discussion.
